There are a few areas in the city, particularly Suryaraopet and Mogalrajapuram, where many affluent families live and most of their children are well-settled abroad, mainly in the US. Initially, highly-qualified doctors and engineers went there long ago and made a name and money for themselves by their hardwork and sincerity.
During the last decade, it was the turn of the computer engineers, who took the opportunity of IT boom there and migrated in large numbers. Their aged parents are taken there now and them whenever their services are required for deliveries and such other domestic help. They stay for brief periods, as one parent put it, in simple imprisonment and long to come back to their moorings here to live free and unfettered life of simplicity and peace. They have everything money can bring but not the much-needed emotional support of near and dear ones.
Keeping this situation in view in a large number of families, Telugu Non-Resident Indian parents Association was formed here last week with the initiative of Mr Pinnamaneni Venkateswara Rao, a retired chief security officer of Singareni Collieries, bringing together a good number of parents like him in a similar position. A well-informed fighter for good causes, Mr Rao explained the details of his meticulous planning for this organization inaugurated at a well-attended meeting. A good beginning is made at last.
